A Simple Gift

After writing my post yesterday, I started thinking about what I would write about today. Looking for inspiration, I decided to go through some of the images that we’ve taken over the last couple of months, and I came across this one… and I had to share this story with you.

We’ve been trying really hard to teach our girls about simplicity when it comes to gifts. To focus more on giving them experiences and less on spending heaps of money on the latest, greatest gadget. In October and November, I was really focused on spinning and knitting gifts for Christmas. In there, I also managed to knit new mittens for Eric and I, out of some of my handspun yarn. The girls LOVED them… so much so, that they were adamant that they receive hand spun, hand knit mittens for Christmas. I was happy to oblige. A few days after Christmas, we went for a walk. Ella, Tehya and I all wore our new mittens… and these are our hand spun mitten hands 🙂

To me, it’s a good reminder that sometimes the simplest things in life bring the most pleasure.

    They’re so pretty!

I crocheted hats, slippers, and other items for my grandchildren and Jordan’s new nieces. They were all received with appreciation. I loved seeing Michael’s reaction to the Minions hat and slippers!
