Wellness Fair at Gold Fox Acres!

For those of you who fell in LOVE with the bunnies when we were at the Birch Tree on March 25th, here’s your opportunity to visit with all the animals! Gold Fox Acres is hosting a wellness fair at their farm in Langley on June 9th from 10am to 3pm. We’re delighted to be on hand to capture some of the fun that will be happening. So far, there will also be a reflexologist, a life coach, a norwex distributor and a public speaker to keep us entertained, with more to be added in the next couple of weeks. Not to mention, all the wonderful animals and with a litter of bunnies born on May 5th, I’m sure there will be LOTS of cuddles to be had!!

They are located at 21810 8th Ave in Langley. Hope to see you there on June 9th, between 10am and 3pm!

Matthew & Jennifer at Creekside

A little while ago, a friend of mine contacted me about donating a silent auction item for the Brian Jessel Cabriolet Event in June. I was excited to be able to help out. I also decided that it would be fun to photograph someone from Brian Jessel for the promo piece that we’ll be displaying… just to make it a little more personal! Enter Matthew, he’s a “Mr. Fix-it” at Brian Jessel. If there’s a problem, he’s the one you’ll talk to. He and his lovely fiancee, Jennifer, were delighted to be our models. They only just moved to Vancouver 7 months ago for work and are loving it here. We had a lot of fun during our session, sharing some of our favourite places to see and things to do.

We chatted about life, love and wedding plans. (How gorgeous is this location in Ontario for a wedding?) We talked about where life has taken them over the past 6 years and how they ended up together in Vancouver. A truly amazing story

Matthew and Jennifer, thank you both so much for your time on Tuesday, you were FABULOUS to work with! Looking forward to seeing you at the event next month!!

Happy Thursday

Rock-Climbing Baby!

I am simply BEYOND EXCITED to be finally posting these images to the blog. This process started back in March, when we first posted about our new line, Child’s Play. Carmel contacted me about creating a climbing photograph as a Father’s Day surprise for her husband, Chris. We set up a time and headed out to Lighthouse Park. We couldn’t have asked for a better day. The weather was perfect, Bryan was an amazing little model and we are so proud of how the image turned out.

Although, he will tell you that there are many people better than him, I think Eric is extremely talented with his Photoshop skills. Wouldn’t you agree?

And the close up… I LOVE how it looks like Bryan is concentrating.

When the final image arrived on Friday, I was thrilled with it and couldn’t wait to show it to Carmel. And as soon as she had it…she couldn’t wait to show Chris. So Happy Early Father’s Day, Chris, I hope you enjoyed your surprise and that you will love this piece for many, many years to come!

Tuesday’s Tip – Gratitude

This week’s tip has absolutely nothing to do directly with photography. I’ve said it different ways, countless times before and it has to do with recording things now, while you can. So many times we wait, because the moment is not right, or maybe your kids are missing their front teeth, or maybe you want to lose ten pounds. We always have a laundry list of things that keep us from setting up a time to have a family portrait taken.

While I realize that having a professional portrait taken is not for everyone…here’s my challenge to you. Why not take what you’ve made excuses for and instead of using it as a reason to not have portraits taken, celebrate it? Be grateful for your health, even if you think you need to lose ten pounds. Be grateful that your kids have that perfect gap toothed grin. Be grateful for the moment now, instead of waiting for it to be perfect. Things change so quickly, it’s important to celebrate what you have now. So whether you hire me, someone else or you do it yourself, please just capture these moments.

…and because every post is better with a photograph, here’s one that I posted a couple of years ago. It reminds me that there is beauty in the every day and that life is forever changing.

With Mother’s Day just a couple of days away (Dads out there that may have forgotten, it’s on Sunday!!!) I thought I would offer a last minute special. It’s for the dads that out there that simply don’t know what to get!

As a mom, I know that my kids and family mean the world to me. There’s nothing I cherish more than the images that I have of them. When I’m having a busy day at work, I just have to glance over at the photo that I have sitting on my desk and it makes me smile. It reminds me why I’m working so hard

I feel incredibly lucky that I get to update my portraits on a regular basis. This is my current favourite!
