I first met Cheryl through a mutual friend about 8 years ago. I still smile when I think about the day that she found out I was pregnant with Ella. It seemed like everyone in that circle of friends had been getting pregnant, with the exception of Cheryl and myself. When I shared with her that I was expecting, she declared that there must be something in the water and that she’d have to stop hanging around with us! I still remember her telling me about meeting Mike and how her eyes just lit up. They have been through a lot together and their day couldn’t have been more perfect. The rain held off until we were inside enjoying dinner… and then stopped again later when we were about to head back outside again. All the details fell into place and they were surrounded by those they loved the most. It was a day that reminded me of why I love what I do. To be able to document so much love is always an honour!
I’ve had a really hard time narrowing down my favourite images from the day, so bare with me while I tell you their story…
We started the day with a few getting ready photos. They had two AMAZING homes that they’d rented in Whistler, which made for some fantastic backdrops in the photos.
Cheryl’s dress was stunning and fit her personality to a tee!
No dress is complete without some amazing shoes and a purse…
LOVE the bottom of the shoes!
There is so much joy on Cheryl’s face as her mom and sister help her into her dress. (and maybe even a few butterflies in her stomach!)
A little bit of bling to really make the dress sparkle!
Cheryl had hired Candice from A Day to Remember to oversee the details of the day (she was phenomenal!) and she presented this beautiful hanger to Cheryl as a gift that morning. Such a special memento.
I could have spent the entire day finding places to photograph in this home! The natural light was AMAZING!
I LOVED Cheryl’s bracelet, which she had made by Sarah Mulder for herself and each of her bridesmaid’s. What an amazing gift. I also was touched by the fact that Cheryl was wearing her Nan’s sapphire ring as her something blue. Sadly, her Nan had passed away just a few months before the wedding, but what a special way to have her there on the day.
Cheryl and Mike had opted to see each other before the ceremony (yay! more time for photos!!!) As the homes that they were preparing in were just around the corner from each other, Cheryl, escorted by her dad, walked over to see Mike for their “first look”.
While I was busy with Cheryl, Eric was busy over with the guys. I LOVE this image that he captured of Mike. So dapper!
It’s so much fun that both Eric and I are photographers, because while I’m getting this image of Mike’s face the first time he sees Cheryl…
Eric’s busy getting this image!
Eric’s angle… I adore Cheryl’s expression, you can almost feel her excitement!
My angle, just a moment later. So much LOVE!
Cheryl was so in awe of their accommodations, that she asked if we could do a few photos of the two of them inside… Absolutely!!!
Eric had a little Photoshop fun with this one.
Such a natural beauty, both inside and out!
A “sneaky” image of the only quiet moment they had together all day.
A special moment with dad.
LOVE that while Eric was getting the image on the left, I was getting the image on the right. Timing is everything!
So much happiness.
Such a beautiful location for a ceremony!
So much love.
Sealed with a kiss.
Cheryl’s stunning bouquet was done by Senka Florist
WE DID IT!!!
Friends, family, love… that’s what weddings are all about!
I had a little fun with the rings…
Candice did an amazing job on setting up the room and ensuring that all the details and the amazing paper flowers Cheryl and her family had made were beautifully displayed.
Isn’t this cake beautiful? It was done by Cheryl’s friend Rebecca and the design was a complete surprise. She asked Cheryl for some photos of her dress, her trust and then set about to create the cake. It fit so well with the theme of the day and I know that Cheryl loved it.
After dinner, we’d set aside time for some Sunset Photos… with the weather, we didn’t get much of a sunset, but we did have some fun 🙂
Cheryl’s favourite colour is pink and her colour for the wedding was a lovely shade of coral. Her sister had found some socks for the guys to wear, which were a lot of fun. I love that they match Cheryl’s second pair of shoes for the day!
Cheryl and Mike, thank you for your trust and allowing us to capture your special day. I hope your journey together continues to be filled with joy, laughter and love. You both are amazing people and I wish you a lifetime of happiness together.
