Yesterday, we went on a mini Christmas adventure… to cut our own tree. With everything we’ve had on our plate the last couple of weeks with the move, painting and unpacking, it was nice to finally get in the holiday spirit! For Eric, it was the first time I’ve seen him this excited about Christmas in years. It reminded him of his childhood and going out to find the perfect tree to cut down. The best part for me, was watching how much fun it was for the kids. Ella couldn’t stop smiling and when we sent her off in search of a tree, she immediately said, “I’ve found the PERFECT one!” and promptly headed over to the largest tree on the lot… at least a 40 footer! When we told her that one was too big, she said, “Okay, here’s another one that’s perfect.” and headed over to one that was about 2 feet tall 🙂 Tehya loved walking around the farm and touching all the trees that were about as tall as she was. She seemed to enjoy it just as much as Ella did.
It took about 15 minutes to walk the farm and find our perfect tree. (Although, we have to admit that when we got it home, we had to cut a few inches off the top… it was a little too tall!!) If you’ve never done it before, I would really recommend it. The kids loved it, your tree is really fresh and green and it’s a great way to create simple traditions.
I wish we had some great images to share with you… but I forgot the camera at home. So all we have is our memories and that’s okay too 🙂
