As we’ve been unpacking, one thing stands out to me more than anything else… we are a family who love to read. The number of books we own is crazy… add to that the ability to download and read books on the iPod or E-Reader or get them from the library and we’re swimming in them.
This could be due to the fact that I find there’s nothing better than curling up under a blanket, in front of a roaring fire on a cold, wet day and losing yourself in a book. This has become slightly harder to do with kids, so instead of me enjoying my favourite book, I cuddle up with them and read to them. Honestly, it’s sometimes even more satisfying.
So in honour of our love of reading, we’ve decided that January will be book month on the blog! Since becoming parents, we’ve read some really great kids books. We’ve also read a LOT of duds that have left me wondering how they even got published in the first place. What we thought we’d do is share the ones that we love the best and hope that you will do the same. Perhaps by sharing, we can all avoid some of the “duds” and just get into really great books 🙂 We’ve also decided that every Friday we’ll draw a name from all the people who have shared their favourite titles with us during the week and we’ll send you a book. The book we’ll be sending out this week is “Bear Wants More” by Karma Wilson.
Now onto the books! We’ll start with the Karma Wilson “Bear” series. These have become some of my favourite kids books to read. They’re fun, easy to read with great messages… and the girls LOVE them! They are beautifully illustrated by Jane Chapman and courtesy of her talents, the books really come to life.
I do hope you’ll check them out and I’d love to hear what you think of them. Also, don’t forget to share your favourites with us. Either in the comment section below (there is a delay filter, so if you haven’t commented before, it will show up once I’ve had a chance to moderate it… cuts out spam!) or on our Facebook Page!
Happy Wednesday 🙂
