I LOVE to read. A few years ago, Eric and I were in England on our way back from a trip. I’d finished all the books that I’d brought with me, so decided to pick one up at the airport. I bought “My Best Friend’s Girl” by Dorothy Koomson. I didn’t sleep the whole trip back and finished the book the next day. It had me laughing and crying from the start. I wanted to pick up some of her other books… but because she’s a UK author, I couldn’t buy the books in Canada.
Enter the e-book. A few days ago, I decided to check and see if I could get her books on my Sony E-Reader…and I could! I was so excited and devoured “Goodnight, Beautiful” in two days.
Eric and I had received the Sony reader as a gift a couple of years ago. At first, I thought that it was something I’d never use. I love the feel of a book and turning pages and being lost in something. But I discovered that it was a LOT easier to read an e-book when I was nursing, than trying to read a regular book. A simple push of the button turned the page. A built in light made it easy for night time feedings. I could borrow books from the library. These simple conveniences were so nice.
So while I love this handy little device, I will still always pick up a novel. Technology is great and provides us with so many conveniences, but I’m still a sucker for “old school”. What are your thoughts. Do you embrace technology with a vengence or do you stick with the basics too?
p.s. Don’t forget Mother’s Day on Sunday. Maybe check out our Urban Nature mini sessions as an idea!
