Every now and then, I wonder what my life would look like if I’d chosen a different career path. From the time I was really young, I’d wanted to be a veterinarian. At 15, I volunteered at a clinic and discovered I wasn’t so great with lots of blood = Not the best choice for me! The year I graduated high school, I’d narrowed my choices down to becoming a photographer or a massage therapist. Obviously, you know what I chose. And despite days when I feel discouraged, I’ve never regretted my decision.
I’ve seen a LOT of changes in the industry over my fifteen years. I’ve heard more horror stories than I care to remember about people’s awful experiences with different “professional photographers”. But mostly, I shared in some pretty fantastic moments in people’s lives.
Photography has challenged me to keep learning and pushing outside my comfort zone. It brought Eric into my life (we met at a great photography conference called Image Explorations) Once I became a mom, it has allowed me the flexibility to still have a career but be home with Ella almost full time. It has allowed me to give back to my community through different projects, like my day with the Cmolik foundation, through Helping Hearts and our Camp Goodtimes project coming up in July.
So as I ponder my question, I know that my life is pretty sweet just the way it is. Thank you to all my clients who help me live my dream. Thank you to all of you who take the time to read and comment on or about the blog, it makes me smile. Lastly, thank you to my family for believing in me 🙂
Have a wonderful day and keep smiling!
