Image Explorations – A review

Wow, what can I say? Last week was AMAZING! My instructors, Greg and Lesa Daniel, exceeded all my expectations. They were so kind and open with their knowledge and I truly appreciate all that they shared. If you ever have a chance to take their class, do it!

I learned so much and now I just need to find the time to filter out what will be most useful for our business. I almost wish I had 2 or 3 extra days in the week to make this happen. Eric and I are hoping to get away for a family vacation this coming Thursday, so we will definitely be spending some of our travel time “de-breifing”.

It’s also such an honour to be a part of the “team” who helps to make Image Explorations happen. It’s great to see some of the behind the scenes work that is necessary and to work with some amazing people. It also puts me in a great position to meet new people from different classes. So to all the new friends I made this week, I look forward to getting to know you better!

Here’s a little peek at my week in photographs. Hope you enjoy 🙂

The first of many “set shots” that you’ll see. It’s just a reminder for me on where the model is in relationship to the photographer and light.

Here’s the same photograph from the other angle. Greg is directly to my right and Lesa with her reflector is hidden behind the tree.

As you can see from the next set of images, Greg does a lot of lying down on the job 🙂

I loved watching Greg and Lesa work together. Here you can see that Lesa is right behind Greg and she’s telling stories to keep Molly engaged. Because of her position, Molly is looking straight at the camera but isn’t intimidated by it.

One of our class assignments was to go out and look for shapes and design elements that we could later use in a photograph to make it stronger. Can you spot the circle and the diagonal?

Just as I was about to photograph the circle that I saw, Greg and Lesa walked into the image. When I looked at the image later, I saw that it was in fact a heart that they’d just walked under!

On Tuesday night, we have a “Super shoot”. Basically a bunch of different stations set up to try and use some of what we’d learned over the last couple of days. I decided I would borrow a long lens to see what it was like… not so sure about it, but we’ll see.

I just love her expression, she’s so adorable!

Happy Monday!
