Yesterday, I attended a celebration of life for one of the most inspiring people I have ever met. Ruby Fraser was a long time volunteer at Camp Goodtimes. She gave freely of hugs, love and her time. She was camp mom and the glue that held everything together. She will be deeply missed.
Ruby and I in 2001.
One of the volunteers from Camp organized an “event” called “Letters to Ruby”. The purpose was for us to share our feelings for Ruby in a letter addressed to her, a thank you letter of sorts. The letters were collected and put into a book to be given to the family. I thought this was a wonderful gift and something that would be a fitting tribute to a woman loved by so many.
It also got me thinking. When was the last time I expressed those kinds of feelings to people who are still alive? Do my friends and family truly know the impact that they have had on my life? I HOPE they do. (Maybe a letter writing campaign is in my future?? In the abundance of free time I have ;))
So I will start right now with all of you… THANK YOU for taking the time to read this blog. Whether you stop by once in a while or often. Whether you take the time to leave a comment or not, I appreciate you taking the time to stop by. I hope something I say at some point, makes an impact. That I may make a difference in your life, no matter how small. I know you all do in mine, so THANK YOU!!!
