Slowing down.. and turning two hundred!

Wow, this is a very strange post to be writing. First – it’s our 200th blog post! In the grand scheme of things that feels pretty small, but when I first started writing these posts, I wasn’t sure how long I would stay dedicated to it.

When I started, my goal was to showcase my current work but also give my clients a little peek at the person behind the camera. My hope was that this would make people more comfortable when they were in front of the camera. This in turn would make for better images, because a relaxed person is simply easier to photograph. This does seem to be working and I’m so grateful for the feedback that I receive from people. Random comments and emails about enjoying a post or a photograph that I’ve posted always makes me smile 😀 So THANK YOU all for encouraging me to contiune posting. Here’s to the next 200 + posts!

Now comes the harder part of this post. As most of you know, Eric and I are expecting our second child in the next couple of weeks. We are very excited and Ella seems to be as well. She even told me the other night that “Baby needs to come out right now. I want to see it. I want to hug it and kiss it!” It was very cute!

Anyway, I will be taking a small break, so you will likely be seeing fewer posts over the next little while and we won’t be doing any sessions for at least the next 6 weeks. This is hard for me to do, in part because I love my job but also because I’ve never been very good at slowing down. My sister asked me yesterday, “Why do you always take on so much?” The best answer I could give her was, “I don’t know, I like to be busy.” Busy is just going to have to take on a different meaning for the next little while!

Thank you to Kelli of Etheridge Photographic for this image of Ella and I. I can’t believe how grown up Ella looks and I’m sure that will become even more evident once the baby arrives!

I thought it would also be fun to run a little contest. Simply post a comment either here on the blog or on our facebook fan page with your guess for when baby #2 will arrive. Include the date, time, sex of the baby and weight. The person with the guess closest to when the baby is born will win a $20 gift card to iTunes.

Keep smiling!
