Last week, a friend sent me a link on Pinterest to a most delicious sounding recipe using sour cherries. Every year around this time, I call Cherry Jubilee in Aldergrove to place my order. At the end of July, I pick it up and spend the afternoon washing and pitting cherries to store in my freezer. Over the course of the year, I pull them out to make family favourites, like Cherry Cobbler or Cherry Pie and they are always a hit! If you love to bake but have never tried using sour cherries, I really do recommend you give it a try. The balance it provides when making a sweet treat, has my mouth watering just thinking about it!
I tried making the Sour Cherry Crumb Cake on Sunday and it’s very tasty! I even made a glaze out of the leftover cherry juice, which we poured over top of the cake. So yummy!
Happy Eating 🙂
