The New Years Tip of the week

The dreaded New Year’s Resolutions… Do we ever really keep them?

I know that the ones that I have kept in the past are ones that make me truly happy. They have been simple things like completing a project or reserving one weekend a month for family time. It’s stuff that feeds my soul. In the choas of everyday life, I think “resolutions” (or goals) help us to stay grounded, connected and content.

So you’re probably sitting here reading this going… where’s the tip?

It’s simple, though perhaps a little self serving… when was the last time that you had family portraits done? I ask this question for a simple reason. Yes, you can capture wonderful photographs of your kids or even each other with the kids… but to get one of the whole family either requires someone else to take the photograph or you running back and forth to the camera, trying to get in on self timer!

So really, what are the benefits of using a professional? I think the biggest one is that our job is to make you look good. When we’re working we take into consideration so many little details… everything from backgrounds to lighting to choosing your “best side”. We work hard to draw out personalities and make everyone shine. We want to create something that you will be proud to display in your home, but more importantly that you will cherish forever.

When Ella was 5 weeks old, we had portraits taken by Greg & Lesa Daniel We love that it’s a portrait of the three of us, but the main subject is Ella. In fact, we loved it so much, we now have a 30″ square Canvas in our bedroom. It’s one of the first things that I see when I wake up in the morning and it never fails to make me smile.

So for all you parents out there, whether your baby is 2 weeks old or 20 years old, maybe it’s time to put “Have family portraits done” on the resolution list.

Keep smiling 🙂
