The Other Side of the Lens…

Today’s going to be a great day! First, we’re having family/pregnancy portraits done by Kelli at Etheridge Photographic. While I’m a little nervous because I’m definitely more comfortable behind the camera, I think it’s going to be a lot of fun! I was once told that to be a better photographer, you need to also spend time in front of the camera. This is so very true. It’s a great opportunity to learn how someone else works with their clients and to see their creative process. To gain more insight into how my clients may feel. The learning opportunities are endless.

We had photos taken by our good friend, Sarah, when I was about 34 weeks pregnant with Ella. The ones I’m having done today will be at about 35 weeks – so it will be fun to compare the differences. This is one of my favourites from that session.

After we’re done getting our portraits taken, it’ll be time for us to photograph Kelli’s family! I remember hearing a comment once “It must be tough to photograph another photographer, because they can easily pinpoint your mistakes.” This sticks in the back of my head every time I photograph another photographer. So while I have a few little butterflies floating around in my stomach, I know that this is just another family session. It’s about creating something that Kelli and her family will treasure. It’s about doing what I love to do and sharing that with another professional.

So while there are a few “challenges” to face today, I really am looking forward to it all!

Keep Smiling 🙂
