A few months ago, a friend of mine gave me two books for the kids. My first thought when I looked at the titles was, “Really?” I guess my thoughts were pretty transparent, as my friend said, “I know the titles aren’t the best but the books are really good.” I thanked her and later that night, as I read them to Ella, I had to agree, they are good books!
The Very Greedy Bee by Steve Smallman
This is one of Ella’s favourite books to read. It’s funny and the illustrations are so bright and cheerful. For the parents out there who are looking for subtle ways to teach their kids life lessons, this is a great one.
The Grouchy Ladybug by Eric Carle
I would say that Eric Carle is best known for the Very Hungry Caterpillar. He has a very old fashioned way of writing, but with this book, I really like the message. It reminds us that being grouchy really doesn’t serve you well.
As I mentioned yesterday, January is book month on the blog! Be sure to share with us your favourite books (for kids or adults!) and we’ll add your name to a draw for Karma Wilson’s book, “Bear Wants More”
