It is never a good feeling when you think you need to start a post with an apology… but here it is! I’m sorry that I’ve been a bit neglectful of the blog lately… but life has been taking some interesting twists and turns, so what little spare time I do have, is being eaten up by other projects.
A while back, I shared what some those projects were and the deadlines that they had. Add a few “surprise” projects in there and chaos ensues!
Here’s an update… big project #1 – The photo book… well it got finished… kinda. I had originally wanted to do a book from the time Eric and I started dating until Christmas of last year. Then the amount of work that needed to be done came into play. Slowly but surely, the book started to get trimmed back. So the book that got completed in time for the groupon deadline was about our life before marriage. It was a lot of fun to go through and reminisce as I was putting the book together and I’m really so pleased with how it turned out. If you’re looking for a way to showcase your family photos, I do recommend Photobook Canada. I’m quite impressed with the quality of the printing (not that it might matter to a lot of you, but the colour balance is pretty accurate!) and the speed of delivery.
The cover… in case you’re wondering, the quote I wrote on the back says “To live well, we must laugh often and love much”
For two photographers, we occasionally do well in front of the camera… this is one of my favourite spreads in the book!
Big project #2 – deadline looming in just over a week. Status about 50% complete. Realistically, I may not make this deadline, but that’s okay. If the project doesn’t make it into the contest, it is not the end of the world. It will be more important that the project gets finished well, rather than rushed! (I know, it’s still not fair that I’m not telling you what the project is! Soon, I promise, soon!)
Small project #1 – the film is still waiting to be developed… soon, I hope, soon. (Soon seems to be a theme in my life at the moment!)
Surprise project #1 – In amongst all of these projects, our life took a bit of a left turn. On a whim, we decided to go and take a look at a couple of open houses. We fell in love with one of the houses, so we decided to list our condo and set about trying to purchase this home! In the time it took us to try and set up a viewing, the house was sold to someone else. We were a little disappointed but we decided that this was just the kick in the pants that we needed to get started, as we’ve been talking about needing/wanting a bigger place for quite a while. It’s all very exciting, but a little daunting at the same time. We love our little home, it’s been ours for almost five years and holds a lot of special memories… but with Tehya’s first birthday just around the corner, it’s time. We need a place for the kids to play and grow. A place they will call home for a really long time. A place with a backyard… and hopefully a studio space 😉
So I guess be careful what you wish for… sometimes when you ask for projects and deadlines, you get a little more than you bargained for!
