Every once in a while, you come across something unique that sounds like a lot of fun. That’s exactly what I thought when I saw a Groupon for a Chocolate making class at Cocoa Nymph. I invited my mom to go with me and we had a fantastic time last night. Rachel, the owner, walked us through her history as a chocolatier, followed by a brief explanation of the origin of cocoa and chocolate as we know it today. It was really informative and interesting to listen to.
Then we got to get our hands dirty! Rachel had made chocolate ganache for the class the day before. We were each given a piece, which we then learned how to cut/shape, dip into a melted chocolate coating and decorate. Once our chocolates were set, we were provided with beautiful little boxes to use to take them home. All in all a great way to spend an evening!
The beautiful display of Cocoa Nymph’s specialty chocolates. It definitely inspired me at the beginning of class! (and to answer your question, yes they taste as good as they look!)
I started out my evening with a delicious cup of drinking chocolate! You’re given the choice of 6 or 7 types of chocolate, as well as 7 or 8 different types of homemade marshmallows… so much fun! I chose to have milk chocolate with Bailey’s flavoured marshmallows, while my mom chose dark chocolate with orange flavoured marshmallows. So, so tasty!

And last but not least, my finished products!
If you’re looking for a unique local shop with lots of personality, look no further. They offer an assortment of chocolates as well as drinks and different types of confection. Definitely a place that I will be returning to!
Have a great Friday! (And here’s hoping for a Canuck win tonight!)
